Music You're Ashamed to Admit You Like
Everyone has dirty little secrets about the music they like. (Mine is The Carpenters.) Even though Michael Jackson sells multi-platinum albums all of the time, you'd be hard-pressed to actually see one of them in someone's collection. Same deal with The Beegees. Look, I know one of you secretly pulls out the Greatest Hits to listen to Stayin' Alive every now and again. Even the most rabid fan isn't going to pick up several copies of it. Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, <insert pop flavor of the month here>… again, someone's buying and listening.
So fess up. What music are you ashamed to admit that you like?
Milli Vanilli
I also love Michael Jackson. I have his video collection. Does that count? No matter how strong public sentiment is against him, whenever Brett plays “Billie Jean” at an event EVERYONE dances.
Um.. I have a Shakira album that I really like.
ABBA immediately came to mind. But don’t tell my boss because I would never live it down.
Milli Vanilli is a good one, I really liked them until it was revealed that they were a fraud.
Here I go. Out of the closet. (But not in a Whoa-She-Bought-A-Subaru kind of way.)
I have a Backstreet Boys cd, but I don’t tend to become ashamed when I like things. Even when they’re totally gay.
I like ABBA, but I don’t have any of their albums. I also really liked that Madonna song that came out for Austin Powers.
Neil Diamond is quite polarizing, but I’ve been out of that closet for years.
Is it supposed to be shameful to like disco? Loud and proud over here!
However, I am embarrassed to admit I have Barry Manilow’s greatest hits.
And I listen to it.
None. Sally and I went see Manilow in Vegas last year and are going see Midler there in July. My six-disc CD player in my car has: 2-disc Best of Led Zepplin, 2-disc Best of The Eagles, Van Halen’s Greatest Hits, and Aerosmith’s Greatest Hits. A busy guy just has to unwind!!
