This old house.
If it’s not one thing, it’s another. A few nights ago, one of our little measuring cups got lodged in the disposal and was utterly destroyed. It was a really nice glass one for doing liquid measure too, so we ended up with little glass shards all in it. Of course, the disposal didn’t take to kindly to it at all, refusing to work after that. I’m sitting at home right now waiting for the plumber to come by and give it a kick, because I need a plumber Lexington sc to get it fix right away.
We’ve also got a real electrician on the way over tomorrow to take care of the swamp cooler issues. It’s not that we really need to cool down the house (goodness, there’s snow on the mountains again today), but I don’t want to let it sit around either. I figured that since Swamp Cooler Guy wasn’t calling back, that meant he wasn’t planning on fixing his poor handiwork. This made me mad, and if there’s one thing you don’t do, you don’t get me mad.
A few nights ago, I decided to statrt giving Swamp Cooler Guy some hard times since he’d already given me more than a few. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and started digging for dirt. Know what I found? The guy doesn’t have a business license to operate in unincorporated Salt Lake County where I live. Oopsie, guess it just slipped his mind. I thought I’d do him a favor and let the county know about it so they could get it worked out with him. I imagine he’s eager to catch up on all of the county taxes he hasn’t been paying.
It doesn’t end there. I’m also notifying the state contractor’s board that he was doing business without a license. I imagine they don’t look too kindly on that. The state Division of Consumer Protection should probably also know about it.
After all of that, I still have an ace up my sleeve: the credit card company. If he decides to not respond to the BBB, I can always dispute the charge and leave him hanging for the cost of a chargeback (which is ususally $25 or so). Given that he isn’t licensed (and I’ve already found someone else to fix it), there’s not much he can do about the matter.
At the end of all of this, let me just say that Western Heating and Air Conditioning of Orem, Utah is a crappy company. I hope that shows up on Google when someone starts looking for them.
Duly noted. And. You’re my hero.
Ugh! We have started the process of looking for a house, and after reading this posting, I’m scared!
You are the wind beneath my wings.
