Liam, the Iguana

This is a video of Liam “reading” his favorite book. There’s no reading involved here, of course. He’s MEMORIZED the entire book.

This is a book about Iguana. Iguana wants to be like everyone else (despite her lovely green color and her long, bumpy tail) until her friends show her that they love her and they love her differences. In the end (SPOILER ALERT!), Iguana realizes she’s pretty awesome exactly the way that she is and she stops trying to imitate all of her friends. And if I had to choose a story for my Martian child to be ridiculously obsessed with, I’d pick this one. Liam’s brain works differently than other children’s brains because he has Autism. He’s also got a great big hand because he has Macrodactyly. I hope that if he ever doubts his awesomeness, he’ll have some good friends around to remind him that he’s wonderful just the way he is.

The beginning is cut off because Jesse didn’t start the video in time, but you get the gist. Isn’t this boy wonderful?

Can’t believe he has that whole book memorized. That’s really amazing. Liam is such a sweetheart. He makes me smile every time I see pictures and videos.
